Con la finalización las tareas de cableado subterráneo y la ampliación de las estaciones transformadoras, la obra alcanzó un avance del 92%. Queda montar 5 de las 132 estructuras para el cableado aéreo.

Con cuatro frentes de tareas simultáneas, los obreros culminaron el tendido eléctrico subterráneo y las ampliaciones de las estaciones transformadoras de San Rafael y de Nihuil IV y trabajan en el montaje de cinco estructuras de las 132 de la obra.

La interconexión en 132 kilovoltios de tensión entre Nihuil IV y la estación transformadora de San Rafael optimizarán el servicio y le darán más confiabilidad al sistema. La obra prevé la ampliación de las estaciones transformadoras, la colocación de casi 30 kilómetros de línea aérea de alta tensión de 132 kilovatios y la construcción de 2 kilómetros de línea subterránea de alta tensión.

San Rafael era hasta el momento una de las pocas ciudades con más de 100 mil habitantes que poseía un sistema eléctrico de una sola entrada, lo que generaba inestabilidad e inseguridad.

La obra, que tiene 92% de avance, sufrió paralizaciones parciales y disminuciones de ritmo, debido a la atención del pedido de un grupo de 67 vecinos que cuestionaban el trazado de la línea aérea. Luego de varias reuniones con autoridades del Ministerio de Economía, Infraestructura y Energía y emitidas resoluciones por el ENRE (Ente Nacional Regulador Eléctrico) que avalaban el trazado original del proyecto, finalmente la línea de alta tensión Nihuil IV podrá ser concluida entre noviembre y diciembre de este año.
